Whether you’re already installing solar or considering adding it to your business, one electrical wholesaler is
increasing its solar product range and offering contractors more technical support to grow their way into the solar business.
“Ideal Electrical now offers end-to-end solar solutions with products from trusted international manufacturers and we are underpinning our solar range with more support at branch level,” says Neil Soper, Ideal’s business development manager of renewable energy.
“As PV capability increases we want to make sure you and your customers are getting the most out of investing in solar,” he says.
Since taking the lead for the Ideal solar offer in October last year, Soper has been delivering internal PV training to Ideal’s forty eight branches as well as providing regular training for motivated installers. “We offer PV installation training which suits newcomers to the technology and those who have already had some experience. We are also providing standards training to help ensure the best performance and safety from solar systems.
“The knowledge level of our staff is growing across our branches and we offer even greater value with the products you can now access. We have just become the New Zealand distributor of world-leading SMA string inverters for grid-tied and off-grid battery installations,” says Soper. German company SMA began designing and manufacturing solar products in 1981 and now has 3,500 employees worldwide with annual sales of €1 billion. The company’s efficient inverter technology has been developed over 35 years and Ideal’s international parent group has chosen SMA as its primary inverter supplier worldwide.
“Because the inverter is the core of any solar system and SMA is a leading international supplier you gain the best available solution today and ensure your customers can adapt their systems to take advantage as the technology continues to evolve.” Where micro-inverters are required, Ideal can provide customer solutions to that too. Soper says that he and his team are looking forward to working with more installers and providing further web-based and handson training later in the year. Resources such as video and documentation will begin to appear in stores and on the Ideal website next month.
It’s not just Ideal customers who will benefit from the agreement with SMA, he says. “As SMA’s New Zealand distributor, we source the range directly from the factory in Germany. This way we can better support existing SMA resellers who have previously been getting product from Australia. Our initial stock is on its way so call now for a price list. “We have invested heavily to ensure local stocks are readily available and getting into quality solar is more affordable for everyone.”
Matthew Still, Ideal’s manager of lighting and energy efficiency says that with the long-term approach Ideal is taking to solar and other efficient power solutions, now is the time to partner up with them. “Not only can you get the training and products you need to ensure the best solutions, our new finance offering will help your clients pay for a solar installation out of the power savings so they won’t have to pay out of their own pocket.”
Ideal’s Finance and Leasing specialist Loretta Kelly says the unique 5+5 finance package reduces out goings to ensure payments don’t exceed savings, and delivers positive cashflow for the final five years where there are reduced repayments giving greater cashflows back to the owner.
A new Ideal solar catalogue will soon be available along with significant product information on the Ideal web site for SMA products as well as micro-inverters and the full range of ancilliary solar products available from Ideal for complete solar installations. “If you’ve considered solar for your business at all then we encourage you to enquire at your Ideal branch or contact us directly to find out how we can help.”
